This page provides a very brief guide to what to expect when you join our wait list.
Our membership secretary will contact you when there is a space. If you no longer want a space or want to be removed from the wait list, please contact [email protected]. All Scout Groups operate their own wait lists, so if a section is full at Bolnore you may choose to contact a different group to see if they have space.
Children are normally offered a space, or move sections, the half term after the eligible age. This is
-6th Birthday for Beavers
-8th Birthday for Cubs
-10.5 months for Scouts
If your child is aged 7.5-8 or 10-10.5, we would recommend joining the wait list for the next section. You can join the wait list for Beavers from the age of 4.
When a section is full, we prioritise children moving up from Beavers into Cubs, and Cubs into Scouts. We cannot guarantee a space if you join the wait list for Cubs or Scouts and we may not be able to take a child where there is no realistic prospect that a space will become available for them in the next section. This would normally only happen where a child would be joining within 6 months of moving to the next section.
Scouting is for everyone- if your child has specific needs please contact the section leader once a place has been allocated so we can work together to welcome your child.
Our normal adult volunteer: child ratios are 1:6 for Beavers, 1:8 for Cubs and 1:12 for Scouts away from the Woodside, or a minimum of two adult volunteers at the Woodside. You may be required to provide additional adult support during sessions or events if your child requires closer supervision than this.
Subscription payments (subs) are paid monthly over 12 months and places are dependent on payment of subs. Our membership secretary will send you a link to set up payments following your child's trial weeks.
We ask for one-off payments for special activities like camps and activity days. If you have any issues with payment or affordability please let us know as soon as you can.
